Introducing Wordwall: An Online Vocabulary tool for EFL/ESL

Resim
Wordwall is an online language tool for those who want to specialize in vocabulary instruction. It has a free version along with a paid version. The free version covers most of the templates to create games for students. You can create an account with your e-mail or sign up with a Google account. There are many templates to choose from but I especially liked the "Crossword" template and will show you how to create fun crosswords using Wordwall. I liked the fact that this tool automatically creates crosswords with only the words provided by the instructor. This is the website for the tool that you can log in or sign up to access to the templates. When you log in and click on the "Create Activity" button, this is the window where you can choose what kind of activity you can prepare for the students. I chose the "Crossword" option here. Then the tool asks for us to enter words and clues that will be used in the crossword, you can add up to 28 words for you

Introducing: Memrise!

Resim
Memrise is a tool where students can see how native people talk and practice. When signing up, students can choose which language they want. In this context, the teacher can lead them and tell them which one they will choose (British or American). After that, the students are to choose their level. The teacher can also lead them and tell them their level. After signing up to the true level, students can start practicing immediately!  I think the most effective way for us teachers to use this would be in class since we cannot form a classroom with this tool and keep track of their scores. The activities in the tool are contextualized so we can introduce the exercises in the classroom after a vocabulary lesson. We can explain how the tool works with an example activity: As you can see, the context is entering a hotel and the student is to practice the contextualized vocabulary (such as check-in, reservation, book, etc.)  they have learned via speaking, or writing! Students can write or

Introducing: Duolingo

Resim
Duolingo is a worldwide popular language learning tool. It is famous for its animations and basic use while practicing. It is suitable for all age groups, from young learners to adults, even elders! For example, my younger cousin who is 14 years old, and my grandmother who is 75 both use Duolingo Super to learn and practice English. This tool starts the lesson by testing your overall knowledge or you can start learning from the beginning. If you decide to start from the beginning, firstly, it introduces you to the words and basic and daily vocabulary, and then it starts you to show the basic sentences including these words. These steps are the same for every language in there. For example, I sometimes practice French and it follows the same learning path. Also, thanks to its basic and clear design, it is not distracting or complex for the learners. As you keep practicing, you also learn and practice with different contents such as visiting places, family members, eating at the restau

Hello everyone!!! I'm Ayça. This is my first blog post on Blogger. I'm 22 years old and currently studying ELT at Yeditepe University. This is my fifth year at Yeditepe.  I hope I will be graduated by the end of this year. Last year I worked as an English teacher in a language course for 3 months and also worked as a Barista in a coffee shop for 3 months. Working while studying improved my experience of working and being responsible for my tasks and responsibilities. I am looking forward to experiencing more in my internship this year. In my high school years, I lived in Bursa and I moved to Istanbul to study at university. I am planning to remain in Istanbul in the future but I might consider new opportunities too. Currently, my priority is my school and internship. In addition to my priorities, I also want to apply to a French course and learn French. Rather than talking about my academic life and goals, I also like to draw, model clay, and watch movies as personal hobbies. S
