Introducing: Memrise!

Memrise is a tool where students can see how native people talk and practice. When signing up, students can choose which language they want. In this context, the teacher can lead them and tell them which one they will choose (British or American). After that, the students are to choose their level. The teacher can also lead them and tell them their level. After signing up to the true level, students can start practicing immediately!

I think the most effective way for us teachers to use this would be in class since we cannot form a classroom with this tool and keep track of their scores. The activities in the tool are contextualized so we can introduce the exercises in the classroom after a vocabulary lesson.

We can explain how the tool works with an example activity:

As you can see, the context is entering a hotel and the student is to practice the contextualized vocabulary (such as check-in, reservation, book, etc.)  they have learned via speaking, or writing! Students can write or say their answer (by clicking the microphone icon) and the AI language robot will interact with them. Also, if they are having a hard time, they can get little hints.

Also, the tool includes a weekly learning planner:

The teacher can assign certain videos, vocabulary, or speaking activities to the students as homework but as I said, I would prefer to use it in the class and leave the assessment to my judgment.

Before starting a "scenario", as stated in the tool, for example, "things I like-dislike" under the theme "opinions", you can choose what you know and do not know:

After entering the section, the students can see the terms meaning in their native language and test themselves. Its mechanic is basically like Dualingo. It uses repetition. After this practice, they can either watch a video to see the term in usage in the native language or talk with the AI language bot in context.

I think this is an excellent vocabulary practice tool for the classroom. If you want to check it out, here's the link!
