Introducing: ReadWorks!

ReadWorks is a free online reading tool that consists of different level readings, considering proficiency age, and activities. When first entering the site, you need to create an account. After creating your account, the tool will ask for your specifications:

When you are done with telling the site about your role and school, you can open a class and invite your students. You can create a class from the site, or import it from google classrooms.

After creating a class, you can choose from a wide range of readings, packaged up to make it weekly. These "packages" are classified according to grade or content, as seen in the photo:

For example, I have assigned my class "5/A" a package for fifth grade. I can choose what to include (audio, articles, etc.) and whether the students can choose what to read or not.

After assigning, the teacher can see the progress of her students from the interface of the classroom.

The tool's package follows the idea of "Daily Routine". In the site, it says that students often struggle with reading because they lack background knowledge, vocabulary, and reading stamina. They believe that their daily routine (15 minutes) can fix this. The daily routine includes 4 steps. Firstly, the teacher needs to set the purpose for the routine. Secondly, the students read the article they are assigned related to the topic. Thirdly, students write "two or three things (as stated in the site)" about what they learned from their reading, or what they want to remember. It is also stated that if they cannot write yet, they can draw. Step 4 is asking students to share what they have learned in the classroom.
